Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball Age Rules

SOFTBALL — Babe Ruth softball rules state that the age you are on January 1st is the age group team you will be assigned to in the summer. For instance, if you are 10 years old on January 1, 2007 and turn 11 years old on January 2nd or later, you will play on a 9 & 10 year old team. Likewise, if you are 12 years old on January 1, 2007 and turn 13 years old on January 2nd or later, you will still play on an 11 & 12 year old team. UPDATE: This now includes Coaches Pitch.

BASEBALL — Babe Ruth baseball rules are similar to the softball rules except the age you are on April 30th is the age group team you will be assigned to in the summer. For instance, if you are 10 years old on April 30th, 2007 and turn 11 years old on May 1st or later, you will still play on a 9 & 10 year old team. It doesn't matter that you start play in April. It's your age on April 30th that counts.
